Another scene from the same era as the Richardson Avenue card, and in the same general area as well. Grand is another block over from Richardson (two blocks from Quay).
Honestly, I don't remember the two notable buildings the caption points out (the Church and the school), and I don't know if they even still exist. (Hey Artesians—do they? Let me know!)
But I like the scene very much, so much that I used it for the banner at the top of these Artesia post card pages.
This card was mailed from a son to his father in Texas in August of 1914. The son reports that the weather in Artesia has been "ideal" and inquires about the crops in Texas. He asks his father how he likes this view of Grand Avenue, and hopes to find a post card that shows Roselawn Avenue.
