Places to go and things to see are what we associate the most with post cards. The card is sent to friends and family back home: look at this! I am here, and having a wonderful time. Or the card is purchased and never sent, a momento of places visited, sights seen. Post card folders were also popular, providing a dozen or more full-color views to be sent or saved.

Now, when we collect yesterday's postcards, we can gather images of the places that are special or important to us: our own hometowns, exotic locales we'd like to visit, places that fascinate us.
