The Seaboard Railway provided service to Florida on a pair of trains shown in these two "through the fruit" postcards.
The famous all-Pullman Orange Blossom Special sped passengers from the arctic wastelands of the Northeastern United States to the sunny and beautiful Florida playgrounds in style.
And how did you know you had arrived? Why, look out the window– there's the orange blossoms!

Like the Southern Railway, Seaboard realized that there was a tremendous market for all-coach service to Florida as well. In February of 1939, the first Silver Meteors began their NY to FLA runs, making the trip in a speedy 24 hours. The Silver Meteors were very popular– within 4 months of launch, the Meteors had delivered nearly 180,000 passengers to the Sunshine State.
This post card, featuring coming-and-going Silver Meteors, has it all: the orange groves, palm trees, beautiful blue water, a sailboat, and few lazy egrets. Could there be a more enticing invitation to Florida than this? I don't think so.
