These Union Pacific early gas streamliners are all about the future. Like the early Zephyrs, they represent a style and character that would disappear in the postwar years.
Grills and chrome and steel and rivets and swooshy stripes. Like something from a Buck Rogers movie.
They just look fast.
And they were fast. These early UP streamliners could reach speeds of 110 mph.
That's 85 tons of hardware rocketing along at a buck ten, while a nice man in a white jacket brings a beverage and a sandwich right to your lushly upholstered chair.
Buck Rogers never had it so good.
